CHAPTER ONE
1.0     INTRODUCTION
1.1     BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Education is for people and its development is ultimately aimed at maximizing the capacity for achieving full welfare of the population. The educational planner as well as administrator is constantly engaged in activities for and with people. The question arise “What are demographic challenges facing educational planning today?
It is vital for planners and decision-makers to know the structure and distribution of the population of a given date, as well as how it has changed in accent years. In other words, educational planning cannot divorce from consideration about dynamics of population (i.e. it growth and change), as it deals with a target population which as constantly changing in number, age and sex composition and geographic distribution.
Population growth results in significant variations in the age and sex compositions of the beside the numerical increase.
The rate of population growth has wide implications on sphere of human activity.
Furthermore, migration of people determines their geographical distribution and this too, has a significant impact on the needs of the society. All effect educational development in direct manner.
Infant the findings of demography are one of the foundations on which educational plans are built and for this reasons, planners should have sufficient knowledge of demographic and limitation.
Nearly all quantitative analysis and of quantitative aspects of education are related to population size, structure, location, dynamics prospect.
Hence, there is need to study demographic aspect of educational planning.
THE DISCPLINE THAT ARE STUDY ON POPULATION ARE OF TWO TERMS.
·         Population
·         Demography.
In which population study can easily concerned with population.
Demography which as been derived from latin word “Demos” meaning people and it hence is the science of population.
